Inspiration from the idiot box?!
After four days of no cable (thanks to the fencing guys cutting the line), I was reluctant to turn the television back on. I was enjoying the quite moments. I was productive without the distraction. I cleaned up my iTunes. I organized my home office. I sorted through ideas and refreshed my new list of ‘want to dos’. It’s been four weeks since I left corporate life and I’ve gone 100 miles per hour ever since, trying to cram in as much as I could, before fiscal reality set in.
But there are times when you just need to decompress. So, I turned on the television.
I was genuinely surprised to walk away feeling inspired after watching a television show – MasterChef. And no, not for the cooking. Once you weed through the arrogance show by some of the contestants, the clear star (no pun intended) was Ben Starr. His attitude makes me want to do better things, reach higher. I have searched online for anything ‘travel’ related from Ben Starr, since he is a travel writer as I aspire to myself. All I could find were blogs related to Masterchef. But here is what I did find – and I feel compelled to share it – Ben’s Recipe for a Happy Life. It speaks to everything that I feel to be true, especially where I stand now in my life.
Please take the time to read this. It will, I hope, give you some food for thought with your life. I could not have said it better myself. Thank you Ben Starr.
Visions of Australia on My Mind
This gallery contains 5 photos.
I just can’t get Australia off my mind today. We are about to venture back to the homeland, although not for relaxing time at the beach this time. As I remember the last visit, I’m wondering if we can just … Continue reading
Mid-Western America is calling…
Not that long ago, I took a roadtrip. With my daughter. 10 states in 13 days. 3752 miles. I was the lone driver. Insane? Maybe so. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Can I go again today??
So…
How many pictures did I take? 1100 exactly. This does not include the ones my daughter Natalie took.
How many books did Nat read? 6.
How many audio books did we listen to? 1.25. One decided not to play correctly, so we gave up.
How many states did we end up seeing? 10. We have dirt to prove it.
How many miles did I drive? 3752. I have gas bills to prove it.
Was this trip one of expected expectations for Nat and I? Yes. Priceless.

And so it begins…
It’s a brand new world for me. After 18 years in political asylum known as Corporate America, I decided to exclaim “I’m done!” and take another path. To here. ‘Here’ being the world of travel, photography and everything in between. I have been feeling the pull for way too long. So, time to indulge the pull and see if this life suits me better.
